The incident took place around 12:21 p.m., Thursday, March 28, at 765 Newfield Ave., said Stamford Police Sgt. Jeff Booth with the Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Squad.
According to Booth, the crash occurred when a 2006 Toyota Camry driven by a woman was traveling northbound on Newfield Avenue when she allegedly drifted into the southbound lane hitting the bus head-on, he said.
One student and the driver of the bus from the J.M. Wright Technical High School were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.
The woman, who needed to be extricated, was transported to Stamford Hospital with serious injuries, where she underwent surgery, Booth added.
The crash closed the roadway for several hours. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
